Welcome to the January Etc by Danyale Blog Challenge, and the new year!!
This year we will be doing challenges a bit differently than we did last year. Rather than focusing on a theme for the challenge, we will be focusing more on a technique that you can use to make your page.
For this first challenge, we will be using the selective coloring technique. If you don’t know how to do this, a quick google search should help you find a tutorial for your system that you use to scrapbook.
I just recently got Photoshop Elements 15, and it is super quick and easy to get this effect with it using the guided tutorial. You can also use layers and masks to easily get this effect. You would create a duplicate layer and make the top layer black and white, then select the area on the bottom color layer that you want to show through in your mask.
I used Danyale’s new mini kit, Snow Dreaming, for this challenge. I absolutely adore the fun papers in this one!
I used a picture from tree shopping back in 2015, don’t get me started on our efforts to find a real tree in 2016! I thought it would be fun to keep the green in the tree and leave everything else black and white. Take a look.
So on to the rules (which remain the same as last year)…
- Scrap a layout where your photo uses the selective coloring technique using any Etc by Danyale kit of your choice.
- Remember, if you scrap with a new release the first week within its release, you will get an extra entry point. For example, Danyale has a new kit that releases on the 1st, you purchase that kit and scrap a layout with it posting it by the 8th and now you get two entries instead of one.
- Upload your layout and post it here for us to gush over by midnight EST on Tuesday January 31, 2017.
One lucky winner will be chosen at random to receive a $10 coupon to Danyale’s store.
*** Last months winner is Annie ***
Please email me at email@example.com or use the Contact Me form here on the website for your $10 prize!!!
Now get to work – I can’t wait to see what you create!
