The morning after, and I am finishing the kids Christmas present Thank You’s……Whew! I don’t know about you guys, but this morning I am still full from the food! As most of you know, my Mom has breast cancer, so she gets tired easy from the treatment, and we decided to all get together at her house. Last year this time, we were putting my step-father in Hospice, so Christmas has taken on a new meaning altogether for us. This was Mom’s first Christmas without my step-dad in 25 years. We have so much to be thankful for!
When I decided to do a hybrid, I chose two different kits by the same artist, Liz @ Sweet Digi Scraps, because I have a boy and a girl that have Thank You’s to send. I’ll only show you one, since the concept for both is the same. I started with a 11 x 8 1/2 layout in my scrapbook program (HP Creative),then downloaded the elements I wanted to use, then printed….simple.
Then I gathered up the traditional products :
Paper, ribbon (didn’t like how the digital transfered, so I used one of my own), ink (which I use on everything……seriously), brads, 3d dots, bone folder, file (I LOVE Basic Grey’s file set…so many different sizes)and large corner cutter.
Once I cut out all my digital products, I began the usual card assembly. I pasted the cool swirly element to the center of my traditional paper (Basic Grey Fusion), the folded and pressed seam down with bone folder. Rounded the corners and went to inkin’. I always ink the edges on most of my pages, because I don’t think any project is done until the whole thing has been touched in some way. Then I placed a 3d dot to butterfly, and positioned on card. My ribbon was cut and glued on, with a little brad to add something to that corner. Look over your project and make sure you have balance to it as a a whole. My big tip for the day…..walk away….then come back later. You will view it with different eyes. I originally intended to use the ribbon that came with the digitial kit, but decided not too an hour later……..always works!!!!!
Sorry this pic is so blurry, I have a crap camera, and NOOOOOO……Santa Claus did not bring me one…..hmmmmpf!
The outside of the card says “Guess What I Am Doing?” and on the inside says “Spending all the DOE-RAY money you sent ME”……my daughter is a complete kook, this was her idea!!! It also included a picture of her fanning herself with the money……Don’t worry, she is sooooo not a money grabber, which is what makes these cards even funnier to those that know her! She donates 25 % of her money, earned or given, to local charities. This year she chose the local soup kitchen, after a segment about the homeless children in our area, aired on t.v.
I know this is a simple card, and very easy to make for most of us, but I know a lot of you ladies still think these things are beyond them. Please follow these simple instructions and you will be surprised how easy you can learn something new! AND……I even used some digital…..Oh My! lol
