Wow, I really sound like a broken record! These months keep slipping by me so quickly. I can’t believe that it is August already, we definitely need to slow time down. Anyway, welcome to the August Etc by Danyale Blog Challenge.
This month’s challenge is another stretch for me. I love to fill my pages up with all sorts of flowers, greenery, elements. It is what I love so much about digital. With paper, I was afraid to use my supplies because I knew that if I used something it was gone, and maybe a better page would come up that I would want that element to complement. Digital frees me from those worries because I can use everything over and over again. So I went from being stingy to being a lover of clusters. Your challenge (and mine) is to maximize the white space in your layout. Using negative space that is empty really forces the eye to where you want it to go, your layout will look clean and cohesive.
I decided to make most of my page “empty” and really draw the eye into my one picture and the clustering around that picture. I was still able to do a lot of layering with all the lovely elements, but I made sure to leave all that outside space alone. I used Danyale’s kit Gypsy for this one.
Here is what I came up with for this challenge. I really love how it turned out. All that “white” space really shows Danyale’s beautifully shabby paper off.
So on to the rules…
Pick any Etc by Danyale kits currently in her shop or at her guest shop at The Lilypad and remember to leave lots of white space. hues from one color.
There is also a new rule that is pretty exciting…If you use a new release the first week within its release you can get an extra entry point. For example, Danyale has a new kit that releases on the 1st, you purchase that kit and scrap a layout with it posting it by the 8th and now you get two entries instead of one. Cool, huh?
Upload your layout and post it here for us to gush over by midnight EST on Monday August 31, 2015.
One lucky winner will be chosen at random to receive a $10 coupon to Danyale’s store.
WINNER, WINNER, CHICKEN DINNER!
July’s Winner was Kellie with her “Photo Shoot” page! Congrats Kellie! Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org (or use the contact form) so we can send you your $10 coupon! Good luck to the August submissions!
So get to work, I can’t wait to see what you create!
