August 22nd Slow Scrap Chat Blog Post : De-construction

De-constructing/stretching our stash and getting more creative!

Hi, Cynthia here!

Today we will be playing on being creative whilst stretching our stash, something I learned years ago in The Art Journal Caravan. The idea to use this for this scrap came to me when scrapping one of the many pages I made with the super awesome collab Dear Karma #4 – iL Dolce Far Niente, part of the series with Etc by Danyale and Little Butterfly Wings.
Both designers make papers that sometimes I just want to stick a photo and nothing else, or maybe write some journaling or scrap in a tiny bit  of the page, their papers are master pieces on their own!

I absolutely LOVE patterns and creative mixed media papers but (I have to confess) I am nowhere near being able to combine too well, with some exceptions of course, but with such amazing papers, the idea of “de-contsruction” seemed superb!

I’m sure many of you have done this at one time or another : cut of a piece of the paper and convert it into an element, or even a few pieces pf the paper and work them into elements and combine them, even to make another element of the pieces.

I do have the simplest of the options in the page that gave me the idea, made with Dear Karma 4 : Il Dolce Far Niente – There is a gorgeous paper with puzzle pieces and immediately reminded me of some templates I scrapped last year and thought it would be amazing to do something of the type….. this is the page I made:

This is one simpler way to work it, but I know there are so many papers from Danyale ’s kits I have “extracted”, cut, erased around them to turn them into another possibility. If you like mixed media/art journaling, you can even build houses (Danyale has these amazing templates for it!) or anything, really,  knowing you all. I know you will come up with awesome ways!

It’s a Circus Bundle:

In this page I have taken a piece of ephemera and concerted into an element – the trapeze lady I cut out and erased around as much as possible, so, a bit like an extraction. I then gave it a subtle border to make it look better.

All the Dear Karma Series products  have amazing papers, and here are some of my most favorite papers from Danyale’s store to play with “de-constructing”.
